Why Dyslexic Data?

I fell in love with behavioral analytics almost 20 years ago, when Google bought Urchin and made it the first major freely-available cookie-based way to anonymously measure website traffic. It was about that time that I, as a direct response consultant (translation: direct mail professional), realized the internet was the future of business … Similar to the way AI will transform business today.

My Brain Was Always A Bit Broken

I knew even before I went to gradeschool that I somehow thought differently. I sketched, I imagined visually, and although I loved books and reading I was never a fast reader.

It wasn’t until a decade ago that my wife at the time, a skilled educator, observed that this broken brain had a name: dyslexia.

I have since learned that this gives me a bit of a superpower. I can see things in data that others cannot.

What You’ll Find Here

Thus this blog, which is separate from my personal blog and my marketing technology blog, where you can learn more about my professional life. This will be a home for my observations about behavioral analytics, AI, data journalism and data visualization.
